Review: Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

Title: Wallbanger
Author: Alice Clayton
Purchase: Amazon ~ Kindle
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Beautiful Bastard
The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she's gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy's athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly...

March Book Haul:

This is more or less of the books I got in the month of March. I'm redoing how I do a lot of things on this blog. My hauls is one of them. I'm now taking individual pictures of each book. It's worth it for quality purposes of my blog.

I hope you enjoy how I will now do my hauls :)

Most of these books are bargain books!! I have taken a big liking to finding bargained books. I go to the library as often as I can. Soon, I'll be adding trips to Goodwill in the mix.

Review: Love And First Sight by Josh Sundquist

Beautiful Bastard Title: Love And First Sight
Author: Josh Sundquist
Purchase: Amazon ~ Kindle
Rating: ☆☆☆
Beautiful Bastard

Synopsis:
Love is more than meets the eye.

On his first day at a new school, blind sixteen-year-old Will Porter accidentally groped a girl on the stairs, sat on another student in the cafeteria, and somehow drove a classmate to tears. High school can only go up from here, right?

As Will starts to find his footing, he develops a crush on a sweet but shy girl named Cecily. And despite his fear that having a girlfriend will make him inherently dependent on someone sighted, the two of them grow closer and closer. Then an unprecedented opportunity arises: an experimental surgery that could give Will eyesight for the first time in his life. But learning to see is more difficult than Will ever imagined, and he soon discovers that the sighted world has been keeping secrets. It turns out Cecily doesn’t meet traditional definitions of beauty—in fact, everything he’d heard about her appearance was a lie engineered by their so-called friends to get the two of them together. Does it matter what Cecily looks like? No, not really. But then why does Will feel so betrayed?

TAG TUESDAY: The Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag

Hey guys! I'm bring Tag Tuesday back! I'm also looking for other things to keep my blog updated often. It's just not enough to do only book reviews and currently reading posts. I'm thinking about maybe doing a questions Friday or something? Maybe something like those old Myspace surveys? I don't know. We shall see.

Anywho, let's get back to Tag Tuesday. I started this when I first started my blog. I kind of let it die out. I got lazy and was always trying to scramble between making the post and making sure it gets posted.

I will now spend my Saturdays and Sundays setting up for my posts. I'm also going to have it post by itself. I won't have to worry about that part!

I found this tag from Dreamlandbookblog. I am also trying something new. I will take my own pictures instead of just getting the image of the cover from the internet.

I'm actually going to work with this!!!

Here we go!!!

1. Best color combo on a book cover:

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

I originally purchased this book because of it's cover. It's a perfect "fall" book. I'm not a big fan of orange, but I think it works really well for this cover. I feel like it's orange for a reason though. Like maybe what happens in the book. Hmmmm.

2. Best typography/font on a book cover:

The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes

I adore the font on this cover. It's very French-like. It suits the book because the book is actually set in France.

3. Best simple cover:

An Abundance Of Kathrines by John Green

I love white covers. I love it more when they're not overcrowded with images and thick fonts. This cover is so simple, I love it!

4. Best endpages:

The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee

The endpages are gorgeous. I did buy the book for the cover. When I opened it, I almost freaking died. I love the gold blended in with the black. It amazes me.

5. Best map:

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I'm not going to lie, I didn't know there were maps in these books. I saw an Instagram the other day with it. I am ashamed of myself.

6. Best naked hardback:

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Baxbaum

I love hardbacks like this. I just for the life of me cannot tell you what it's called when they do this with the covers. Help me?

7. Best back cover

We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach

I don't know what it is about it, but I love it. There's not much to it and it's still calming to me.

8. Best chapter headers:

Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour

It's not a chapter header. But it's the most gorgeous part header I've ever seen!!

9. Best illustrations:

Confess by Colleen Hoover

I'm well aware these aren't illustrations. But the artwork for this book is amazing. I kind of need some in my house!

10. Best spine:

Monsters In The Dark by Pepper Winters

I just adore the font for this!! And of course, the bird <3

11. Favorite cover on your shelves:

Adore by Nina Lane

I just love this cover. It's freaking adorable!! I love the colors and the collage-like theme she has going on.

I hope you all enjoyed this tag. Remember, if you do it on your blog be sure to leave a link in the comments!

Review: Open When... by Karen Salmansohn

Beautiful Bastard Title: Open When...
Author: Karen Salmasnsohn
Purchase: Amazon ~ Kindle
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
Beautiful Bastard

Synopsis:
Happiness expert Karen Salmansohn presents a unique interactive book that invites readers to literally open letters of encouragement, wit, and wisdom whenever they need a boost. Inspired by the trend of "open when" letters sweeping the nation, Instant Happy author Karen Salmansohn has created a bound collection of 12 notes for readers to flip open whenever they need a pep talk. With categories like "Open when you need a laugh," "Open when you're feeling stressed out," and "Open when you need courage," these little happiness-boosters are based on Salmansohn's viral posters that combine witty sayings with colorful graphics.

I wanted this little book because I thought it was the cutest little thing!! It also got here in perfect timing. I've been having a rough few weeks and this book brought up my spirits.

I didn't know what I was expecting for this book. But I do know that I wasn't expecting "letter-like" pages. They even have their own little envelopes!!

This book is super adorable. The illustrations are so freaking cute! My favorite one is the unicorn :)

I definitely recommend this book to anyone. If you've had a bad day, pick it up. If you need a pick-me-up, read it!

It's so inspirational to look at a book like this, everyone should have one.

I received this book from "Blogging For Books" for this review.

Review: By Your Side by Kasie West

Beautiful Bastard Title: By Your Side
Author: Kasie West
Purchase: Amazon ~ Kindle
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Beautiful Bastard

Synopsis:
When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn’t come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?

No More Blog Tours

I am no longer posting blog tours! I'm currently trying to not be on the computer as much. I find that I worry about making sure everything gets posted when it's supposed to. I feel like my blog is becoming more of a chore than something I find fun. I didn't ever want it to come to that.

So from now on, no more blog tours!!!

Synopsis:
One story. Two couples.

I fell in love with a man who didn’t exist.

What started out as romance ended in hell.
His words turned to razor blades.
His kisses converted to fists.
His embrace became my cage.
His body transformed into a weapon, stealing parts of me until ultimately….
I broke.

I hated him.
My sole job in life became to protect our daughter.

I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.
Until the day our savior arrived.

This is the story of how I escaped the man who thought he owned me.
The transfer of my life and my family.
